International Competition invites young dancers from vocational and private schools to Berlin 24-28 February 2012. Categories: classical, modern, character, folk, jazz and pop. Money prizes, scholarships, company contracts, travel deals.
02. Competition in Poland
A meeting of professional choreographers, to present and promote the most talented and skilled artists. Only the work of choreographers is evaluated. In Lodz 12-13 November. Inviting original and innovative works.
03. New site
The Naxos Section of CID has created another website with painting masterpieces of the Orientalist school. Belly dancers could use these pictures as background for performances.

04. Festival in Greece
International festival, all forms of dance, invites ensembles from all countries, combining their participation with a visit to the sites of Athens. Performances on Mondays 5 & 19 September 2011.

06. Festival in Nepal
Inviting ensembles to participate in international festival to be held in various cities of Nepal from 9 to 18 March 2012.
07. Scholarship for China
Covering tuition, fees, room and board during 10 months at the Beijing Dance Academy, airline tickets to and from Beijing, health insurance and per diem. Choice of specialization between: Ballet, Chinese Classical Dance, Chinese National and Folk Dance Modern Dance.
08. Choreography competition
Inviting works expressing Asian cultures or Asian narratives such as myths or tales, or that utilize various traditional dances of Asia. Prizes are 8000, 5000 and 3000 US dollars.

“Fiesta Argentina” regresa al anfiteatro Ford por sexta vez presentando cantantes, músicos y bailarines. “Tango & Folklore, la mujer y su aporte” presenta tango, música y bailes folklóricos de Argentina, celebrando el gran caudal que la mujer ha contribuído a estos géneros durante su evolución y desarrollo en Argentina y el mundo. Figuras como Mercedes Sosa, Ramona Galarza, Libertad Lamarque, Tita Merello y muchas otras han dejado un legado y un caudal de canciones y versiones inolvidables en estos dos estilos importantes de la música Argentina, el tango y el folklore. “Fiesta Argentina 2011” celebra este aporte que desafía el paso del tiempo.

En el espectáculo también participará Ara Tokatlian, cofundador del legendario grupo de rock argentino Arco Iris, el gran guitarrista Carlos Velasco y el afamado arpista latinoamericano Julio Montero. El tango y el folklore no son distintos a ningún otro estilo musical en su constante búsqueda y evolución y Fiesta Argentina 2011 muestra este proceso, el Buenos Aires de ayer y de hoy, que es una mezcla de la vieja ciudad inmortalizada en los tangos tradicionales, la vastedad de las Pampas argentinas, con su llana soledad, contrastando con todo el progreso y las incongruencias del siglo XXI con sus cybercafés, internet, teléfonos celulares, atascamientos de tráfico, multinacionales, etc.“

LOS ARTISTAS:
Stella Milano
Stella nació en Misiones, Argentina junto a las Cataratas del Iguazu. Iniciando su vocación a los 16 años como animadora de programas radiales infantiles y televisión locales, recibió dos Santa Clara de Asis y trabajó junto a Verdaguer (Este loco loco Hotel), Alberto Olmedo (Capitán Piluso), Alfredo Barbieri (Crazy Horse internacional de Chile).
La Televisión Nacional de Chile la contrató para dos de sus ciclos mas exitosos actuando en teatro como en el Teatro junto a Pepe Vilar y como cantante en Sabor Latino junto a Eber Lobato.
Despues hizo la trascendencia continental siendo parte de “Chorus Line” en Buenos Aires y “El Violinista Sobre El Tejado” en el Teatro Nacional. Se radicó en Estados Unidos y se presentó con su shows (los cuales dirijió, produjo, y actuó) en inglés y español “2 X 4 Tango” junto al legendario cantante Horacio Deval, “New Age Tango”, “Con Tango Art “y “Los Grandes del Tango” en más de 20 ciudades de USA, Canada, Mexico, Rep. Dominicana y Japón.
Siendo el estrella del show de Greg Thompson Productions, encabezó los espectáculos Caribbean Carnival Show en el Hotel-Resort Holiday Inn en Miami Beach, Florida, Heatwave Show en el Sheraton Hotel-Casino-Resort en King of Prussia, Philadelphia, Womanism Show en el Tokyo Hilton Hotel en Japón y Hot Hot Hot Show en el Seven Feathers Hotel-Casino-Resort en Cayonville, Oregon. En uno de sus Conciertos el Alcalde de la Ciudad de Milpitas-California le entregó las Llaves de la Ciudad por “su invaluable aporte a la difusión del Tango.”
También tuvo la oportunidad de tener programas de radio exitosos en Miami, Florida en español e inglés Tango y Milonga, diurno y Conversando Tangos, nocturno. Con MIA Records Inc. grabó los CDs “Tangos al estilo de Stella Milano”, “Tangos with The Taste of Woman” y “Mi apellido es Buenos Aires”. Con SuraMusic, su última producción “Tangos Milongas y Rancheras De Mi País”.
Suni Paz
Nació en una familia argentina Italo-Catalán de escritores, músicos, lingüistas y poetas. Suni comenzó a tocar la guitarra, a componer canciones, a cantar en coros y reuniones familiares a la edad de 12 y se emigró a California en 1967.
Eligió el nombre Suni, que significa “sempiterna,” de la lengua Quechua, para poder diseminar las culturas de las Américas tan ricas en letras, ritmos e instrumentos como el charango, la caja, y el bombo. Paz es un apellido común en Latinoamérica y su significado es obvio. El encontrar paz interior y compartirla con otros es la meta de Suni. Su característica ha sido el cantar y tocar ritmos creando un puente entre culturas.
Debido a su intención de tocar algunos temas importantes para ella, Suni comenzó a escribir sus propias letras y a darle una voz a los silenciosos y olvidados en nuestra sociedad. Ha cantado en comunidades, escuelas, reuniones políticas y manifestaciones, y luego en universidades y festivales en EEUU, América Latina y Europa.
En los ‘60, ya en Nueva York, Suni grabó su primer álbum: Breaking Out of the Silence/Brotando del Silencio. En los ‘70, Moe Asch de Folkways Records, le pidió que grabara tres álbumes para niños: Alerta, Children Songs for the Playground and From the Sky of my Childhood que grabó acompañada por la gran cellista Martha Siegel. Los tres álbumes solidificaron a Suni como canta-autora de canciones para niños.
En 1984, Suni conoció a Dr. Alma Flor Ada, una conocida escritora de cuentos y poemas para niños, quien vivía y trabajaba en San Francisco. Junto con Vivi Escrivá, una magnífica ilustradora que vivía en España, las letras de la Dr. Ada y la música de Suni, se estableció un trío creativo que cubría dos continentes. En 1997, Suni conoció a la poeta y escritora Francisca Isabel Campoy, que escribe libros para niños en América Latina y España con la Dra. Ada. El trío se convirtió en cuarteto. Suni luego comenzó a componer música, a grabar y a tocar las letras y cuentos de Ada y Campoy, y ahora las presentan juntas en conferencias sobre educación en EEUU y América Latina. Suni acaba de publicar su propia colección de cuentos cortos y anécdotas acerca de crecer en Argentina y va a publicar otro sobre su vida en Chile.
Ahora, Suni esta promocionando su nuevo CD “Bandera Mía” en el sello Smithsonian Folkways con una gira que combina emotivas canciones folklóricas de Argentina con sus interesantes cuentos biográficos.
Pueden leer uno de sus cuentos en el nuevo “The Spirit of a Woman” de Terry Gopadze. Poemas de Suni también furon publicados en el libro“La Inefable Locura de ser Poeta” junto con 20 poetas de Los Angeles. Presently. También está grabando un CD nuevo con poeta y pintor argentino Rodolfo Spadano y Hugo Wainzinger.
Tiempo Tango” de Dino Durand
Dino Durand nació en Corrientes, Argentina, y estudió en Buenos Aires en el Conservatorio Nacional, y la Escuela Superior de Jazz Malosseti. Estando todavía en Argentina, tocó y grabó con artistas de renombre como Fito Paez, Baglietto, Lito Nebbia, Sandra Mihanovich, Ratones Paronoicos, entre otros. En 1985, luego de llegar a EEUU continuo sus estudios musicales en MI, y the Dick School of Music y en este momento es director, arreglista y compositor. En 1990 tuvo su primer contacto con el mundo del Tango (el Blues del Sur, como Dino lo llama) y su vida y carrera musical cambió para siempre, descubrió un amor y reverencia profundos por este estilo musical y desde ese momento comenzó a trabajar con Armando Patrono, Shakira (Obsession Tango), Sting (Dolphin), Raul Jaurena, Pablo Aslan, Pedro Eustache, Madonna (Evita), Cadicamo, Lalo Schiffrin (Tango), Soccer Fest (World Cup ’94), y Plácido Domingo, entre otros. Su capacidad y conociemiento musical cubren abarcan una gran cantidad de estilos como el Jazz, Rock, Tango, y música latina.
Carlos Bosio
Carlos debutó en la Radio LT8 en Rosario, Argentina, y se convirtió en un éxito inmediato con su voz aterciopelada de barítono y su interpretación de tangos dramáticos. Trabajó con Tango Symphony, Pablo Podesta, Raul Lavie, Los Fronterizos, José Marrone, Anthony Quinn, Ricardo Montalbán, Henry Mancini y Lalo Schiffrin. Su voz tiene una profundidad y expresión inigualable, y es difícil encontrar una persona en el público que no tenga lágrimas en sus ojos luego de su emocinante versión de “Alfonsina y el mar” (canción compuesta por Ariel Ramírez y Félix Luna dedicada a la poeta nacida en Suiza y criada en Argentina de muerte trágica Alfonsina Storni).

La compañía ha sido elogiada por críticos de danza en todo el mundo, inclusive por nuestro propio “Los Angeles Times”. Sus coreografías y bailes de tango son dinámicas y atléticas, sin llevar al tango a una competencia atlética, siempre mantinen su sensualidad y passion. Gloria, su directora, hoy por hoy es considerada una de las mejores bailarinas de tango en el mundo entero. Las tres parejas se recibieron en el Conservatorio Nacional en Buenos Aires, Argentina en ballet y danzas folklóricas, pero no hay duda que llevan el tango en el alma y el corazón.

Waouh !!!! C’est parti pour la troisième édition du Festival de Nice. Le compte à rebours commence aujourd’hui !! Le staff est prêt à vous recevoir. C’est avec une grande émotion et beaucoup d’adrénaline, que nous attendons l’ouverture.
Il y aura 30 stages, tous très intéressants et dans différents styles. La pédagogie de chaque maestro est de haut niveau et très étudiée. Vous trouverez sans aucun doute ce que vous rechercherez. Nous nous efforçons de faire du festival un endroit de rencontre Tango sans superlatif ou tous les styles et tendances pourront s’exprimer. Un festival ou la fête est reine !!!
Toute l’Amérique Latine a suivie plus ou moins, la même destinée. C’est pourquoi nous donnerons cette année une place au folklore d’Amérique latine, nous commencerons par la Colombia.

The lab programme is designed for performing arts practitioners with professional stage experience working in various genres, techniques and styles.
PROGRAMME: Intensive practical training, lectures and discussions. Participants will have opportunity to become acquainted with the method of director's preparation in the period from reading of the play till meeting with the group of actors.
Participants will have opportunity to acquire reliable director's toolkit for creating contemporary professional productions and improve skills. The Lab is a wonderful chance to find collaborators and partners for future creative work and gain new experience of creative collaboration in multicultural multilingual theatre environment.
The workshop working language is English.

Comme en peinture on parle d’un avant et d’un après Picasso, il y a dans le tango un avant et un après Piazzolla. Avec quelque 200 disques originaux édités, 323 œuvres officiellement créées, plus d’un millier enregistrées et de nouvelles interprétations qui fleurissent tous les jours de par le monde, sa production fut colossale, son exigence sans pareille. Astor PIAZZOLLA (1921-1992) est un compositeur et bandonéoniste hors norme.
Cette icône – avec Carlos Gardel – de la musique argentine est inextricablement liée à l’histoire du tango, à son essence, à ses maîtres et pères, qu’il transgressa avec grand bruit. Il généra un langage puissant et homogène, qu’il nomma lui-même « la musique de Buenos Aires ». L’homme, dont l’œuvre a révolutionné le tango, équivalent musical de Jorge Luis Borges dans sa démesure, pouvait être à la fois trivial et génial, opportuniste et provocant, mais il reste une figure musicale intouchable. Presque 20 ans après sa mort, il continue de rassembler ou de séparer, et dans tous les cas, de déclencher des polémiques.
Cet ouvrage, en une sorte de jeu de piste musical, historique et géographique (de Buenos-Aires, à New York et Paris, principalement) tente de donner des clés pour comprendre « l’énigme » de ce créateur légendaire et indocile, qui, à bien des égards, ressemble au tango même.
